Keeping Eurovision spoiler-free

May 30, 2010 09:02

It's the one day of the year where I can't read the news online, and am very wary of FB and LJ updates.

Hey, the papers all managed to keep their front pages spoiler free when discussing the end of 'Lost' - why the hell can't the do the same with EV?

They probably avoided spoiling Lost because it's so complex and can't be summed up in a catchy headline, unlike the Eurovision where all they have to do is mention the country of the winning song.

News.com actually managed to catch a clue this year, they've put it under a spoiler alert for the first time. There was another Eurovision story that could be considered very slightly spoilerish but without going into any details about winners or anything.

ABC news has a spoiler free "Winner announced" headline and could be considered safe.

On the other hand, avoid American sites like the plague. Bloody CNN!

Admittedly it's a bit less relevant for me this year, I was out on Friday night and will be out again tonight, so I won't be watching it for the first time in 10 years. I had been planning to do a drunken blow by blow last night for the second semi but my router was down for half of it. Pity, there was much to be snarky about.

The Age was good enough to not reveal the winner in the headline.

I would love to come over for the final but not sure if I can make it. We have a family dinner thing which I am assuming will be tiring for M (who is not keen on eurovision anyway). May watch from home!
