Can you recommend a nearby hotel? Nottingham might be a neat last minute trip. But KK would want to come so crashing at your place would not work so well.

bloody eck! you mean your thinking about coming over from Washington to the UK for our party? You sure??? I mean, i would be totally delighted to spend the new yr with you, but seriously...its a bloody long trek!

Hotel wise...Nottingham city centre is only 10mins walk away, so any of the hotels in the city centre would be ideal for you both, stay away from the B&B's though - most of them tend to be battered old victorian buildings with decor from the 60's. The Citilodge, Moat House and Welbeck hotels are on Wollaton st which is north side of town (nearer to our place) and across the road from the Tap & Tumbler which is a nice friendly rockers pub:)

Now before you tell everyone you have a bloody american stalking you, I've just been looking at this New Years as a really good one to actually celebrate. It's a bit of a toss up between being someplace where there are good (albeit likely non-sober) people whom I enjoy - obviously a bill your team fits perfectly - or some place brand spanking new where I'd like to just soak in some flavour - currently pondering Berlin.

I can definitely take the time off work, but KK may want to do something that doesn't involve a day of airplane travel each way. In which case it may down to Chicago.

But it would be lovely to see you, check in on the crew, and take a break from all the silly American hang wringers over here. Besides, where else can I go for a fabulous conversation one minute and then dancing the next and then Ikea the day after? :)

Thank you so much - it really does mean a lot to me that you'd even consider coming over here to spend the New Year and that i'm in your team of 'good people' - that puts a cheshire cat smile on my face:) In hindsight, i agree that Chicago would def be better for traveling but anyhow let me know.

Going to have to save up to come across there sometime - have a lot planned already for next year though. Btw, you still up for Documenta in Kassel? Did you get my email about it?

I would like to have proper windows, ours are tinted black and look out on a brick wall taller than the building we're in, only a few feet away! Make sure you make the most of your windows :)
