I am somewhat amused by the latest car development. Took it to the garage yesterday to get the tracking sorted & the wheels balanced before the long drive to Whitby on Friday. Tracking was no problem but the mechanic informed me that he couldn't balance the wheels properly coz our Fiat Bravo apparently has the wheels from a mini!!! =P

Eh? A balanced wheel is a balanced wheel. Doesn't matter what make the wheel is or what car it's fitted too.

All a balanced wheel is is a wheel with weight equally distributed around it's circumference. Balancing a wheel normally just involves attaching small weight to the wheel to balance out light/heavy spots.

Apparently the wheel spacers aren't sitting flush so the wheels shift slightly as they're spinning - which causes the vibrations at high speeds which are normally associated with improperly balanced wheels.

Ah, that makes sense. So he could balance the wheels, just shonky bits of your car meant it would have made no difference =:p.

That's the one! As I say, I shall be looking for some proper wheels when I'm a bit less busy!

Hmm...you could take an entire lieu day on Wednesday and bimble around with me somewhere...possibly on the sofa with dvds and cake ^_~
