It's only for 4 months and it is in London but if anyone who does database programming is at a loose end, have a look at this:

If you can make our database work even a bit more effectively than it currenlty does I'll be really happy! =)

I guess you've already seen this?

The Government is aware that a number of concerns have arisen in connection with the future funding of the scheme. The PAS is funded by the Museums Libraries and Archive Council, therefore decisions about the scheme's future funding will be taken by them. The Museums Libraries and Archive Council have confirmed that they will maintain funding for Portable Antiquities Scheme in the next financial year (£1.3 million).

The Museums Libraries and Archives Council recognises that the Portable Antiquities Scheme is of national importance. The Government shares the Museums Libraries and Archive Council's commitment to the scheme. The British Museum and the Museums Libraries and Archive Council are fully committed to the continued success of the Portable Antiquities Scheme and are working together with other stakeholders to ensure that this is achieved.

Yes. They're still freezing the funding at this year's level of £1.3 million when we need £1.49 million, so 3 of my colleagues have lost their jobs. And the government is sending out this email which implies that MLA have agreed to maintain the PAS when in fact they're still giving us an effective funding cut by only confirming funding for 2008/09 at the same level as 2007/08 without even an inflationary increase.
I worry that since that isn't made clear in the email, the people who kindly signed the petition will think we've won a victory when in fact the situation hasn't changed. Damned politicians and their twisted use of language!
