[for Ronon]

It had been chilly when Jennifer went to the other clinic for her Wednesday shift, and by the time she left it had begun to snow. God, not again, she thought, and stopped by the compound to look for an extra sweater or two for herself and some extra blankets for herself and Socks. After a second thought, she found a sweater she thought would be ( Read more... )

Ronon had noticed all day that something was off. He'd spent the morning with the ITF and kept an eye on the rising wind. The moisture in the air. He'd been back at New Atlantis when the snow had started and had been pounced by an unhappy cat who didn't like the cold white stuff at all.

He'd tucked Socks into his shirt, wrapped up warmly for the sake of the cat and set out in search of Jennifer. He'd gotten to the clinic in time to miss her and though the snowfall had mostly covered any tracks, the path to the compound led to New Atlantis and it was the logical path she would have taken.

The weather only worsened rapidly, as the snow began to pile in drift and Ronon started to run. As best as he could in the snow. But then he noticed tracks - tracks that were the right size and matched standard Atlantis foot ware. Socks stuck her head out of his shirt and Ronon pushed her firmly back in - she was small enough to freeze. "Stay put," he said gruffly before setting off following the tracks.

"Good, I found you," Jennifer said, seeing Ronon not too far from his hut--she was headed that way to drop off the stuff she'd picked up for him. Then Socks stuck her head out of Ronon's shirt, and Jennifer laughed. "Get back in there," she told the cat, and then to Ronon said, "I picked up some stuff for you when I got off work. Let's go inside."

Ronon was nearly back at New Atlantis when he caught up with Jennifer, Socks stuck his head out to peer up at him as if to wonder what all the fuss was about. Ronon nodded to Jennifer, before pulling her briefly close. "I'm glad you're ok," he told her. Then he guided her inside his own hut. He'd made furs in the winter he'd arrived in that now didn't seem so useless.

"It's only going to get worse out there," he said certainly, finally tugging Socks out of his shirt when they were safe within the confines of the hut. The kitten mewed loudly then yawned, eyeing the door then looked sulky when Ronon pulled the door firmly shut.

"It's really weird," Jennifer said, putting down her armful of things. She shed her coat (that was getting wet from melted snowflakes) and tugged on one of the sweaters. "Last time this happened it was like overnight, and all the trees and huts and everything changed. Now it's just... snowing. I can't believe how fast the temperature dropped."
