Hahah, I haven't read this yet, although I am about to! I must confess I am quite curious, though, as to why you exclusively refer to him as Gil instead of Gilbert, which (having read the books approx. 6 floppity jillion times) he is always called by Anne -- Diana calls him Gil a couple times in AoGG and possibly Christine might in Anne of Ingleside, but... yeah. Curious!

You know, I think it might just be me showing my movie bias, or maybe I'm just crazy! But it seems like he's referred to as Gil more than Gilbert in the movies, right? And while I love the book indescribably a lot, I love the movie even more, so that's kind of where my Anne allegiance rests by default. But at the same time, it might honestly just be me slipping up because that's just ... my crazy brain! It would not be the first time.

Perhaps that is it, because I have never seen any of the movies and I am always confused when I see "Gil." MYSTERY: SOLVED?!

Huzzah, go us and our mystery solvation!!! AND OH MY GOSH, okay, the first movie is absolutely the most perfect adaptation of anything I have ever seen in my whole life! The second gets way more liberal and is not quite as fun, and the third is what one might call, y'know, an abomination, but the first. The sheer amount of love for that book that somehow shines out of that movie adaptation is just -- gah, so beautiful! Megan Follows as Anne -- I cannot even describe!

jalsakslasla &hearts &hearts &hearts ANNE/GILBERT FIC. Right after I talked myself out of giving you them as a prompt on your previous post, too. And oh, this was fantastic. Romeo and Juliet! And Anne was so perfectly Anne, every little bit of her, and - and - Gilbert! Being Gilbert! And smiling at her and making Anne forget Juliet's line for a brief moment. And ALL OF IT.

A sneaked glance reveals Diana to be bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet.

THIS WAS MY REACTION AS WELL.

Loved it!!! The narration isn't a perfect imitation, of course, but Anne's behavior and thoughts and reactions certainly are. You've got her spot on. And I just love this idea and the way you plausibly got Anne and Gilbert reciting romance together at the head of the classroom...perfect!!!

My favorite line: "He thinks that just because he’s charming she ought to let herself be charmed. She most certainly will not." That's like my motto in life, and 100% Anne.

THIS WAS SO DELIGHTFUL. I'm sure you are tired of me starting every review with THIS WAS SO DELIGHTFUL but I cannot help myself, I'm too delighted! Oh man, I simply cannot get over how you so effortlessly encompass the character of Anne to the point where I'm pretty certain that you ARE her. Just, EVERYTHING was so utterly perfect and charming and Anne. I wanted to pick out a favorite line, but there are TOO MANY for me to choose from. Anne hoping Josie's ears freeze off, Gilbert eagerly volunteering to be Romeo after Anne volunteered to be Juliet, Anne considering her grudge against Gilbert to be far less foolish than the Capulet/Montague grudge, Anne's thought process on why she should play Juliet, Anne getting flustered at Gilbert's mouth twitch, just... EVERYTHING. It was marvelous.
