Maria Filomena Mónica is a University Professor. She is a very good researcher and she is the author of very interesting books about portuguese literature and portuguese history. Unfortunately she seems to have some sort of dispise towards her own country.

Which make her saying those statements... Which is even more curious because in Portugal she is very respected as a woman, teacher, researcher, author. I can speak for myself: I have a great deal of respect towards her. So, this type of attitudes annoys me. A lot!

Yeah, I can see that but isn't it bit strange that she says something like that? I missing a bit the context there.

I understand your strangeness on this. Truth is, Maria Filomena Mónica belongs to a specific group of intelectual people that enjoys saying bad things about their own country - Portugal.

I suppose they have pleasure in that attitude...

Fica sempre bem, dizer coisas dessas. É sinal de erudição, e de que se tem uma mentalidade cosmopolita que abraça ideias progressistas. Ser patriota é coisa de "gente rude do campo" que nunca saiu da aldeola onde está condenado a morrer. :\

Realmente, é um bocado triste que alguém com um percurso como o dela diga coisas destas...

100% de razão nas tuas palavras... infelizmente. Existe uma certa mania de uma certa intelectualidade de dizer mal do próprio país. Por vezes, não há paciência!
