Uh oh!

Ryko, which reissued about forty of Zappa's albums back in 1993 has just discontinued all of those albums... Not even his landmark albums are on amazon anymore! Just the posthumous and live albums... D=

Soooo I don't know what'll happen?

You're cute and funny! Thank you for assuring me about my future massive music catalogue.

Seriously?! That's a huge chunk of important 20th century music taken off the radar. Something must be majorly messed up with the legal rights to the music or something. I'm honestly surprised this wasn't covered in the media.

I know! I've looked it up online and can't find anything about it except for a couple of other fans in bewilderment. Maybe I'm wrong and they're just re-reissuing them or something... Or maybe Amazon just decided not to carry them anymore. XD

Just an fyi, I did some searches at other websites (CD Universe, Border's, Best Buy, etc.) and Zappa's discography is listed as discontinued or back-ordered on all of them. So it's not just Amazon. And yeah, like you, I could find absolutely *no* news as to why this is happening.

The only thing I noticed is that Warner Music purchased Rykodisc in recent years and that Zappa hated Warner and frequently bashed them during his life. And Warner are bigger dicks than ever so maybe they're trying to bury his catalog out of spite. That's pretty thin so I seriously doubt it, but it's all I could come up with.

Very weird situation indeed...
