I would just explain that to your mom, that you don't feel confident doing hair without that safety net of your instructors. It can't hurt, see what she says about practicing a little. I know it sounds harsh but in the end, it's not her decision anyway. I know you probably feel obligated to help out, but you can't do that at the expense of your own feelings. I did that, and it was the worst job I've ever had.

Hey its @keyfuck and I think that your mum would understand . Tell her about how you need more experience and confidence but that you'll definitely do it once you think you can do the job with confidence , I;m sure she'll understand :)

No omg it's not stupid!
It makes perfect sense and tbh I think your mum would be really happy if you wanted to practice on other people because that shows that you're willing to try out for the job if you get to practice right? And also shows that you're willing to do your best and to try and make a good impression by obviously doing your best. If you tell her that you don't like hair and that you want to practice on others, then i think it shows really well on your part because anyone doing anything they dont like doing is always impressive! ^^

My mom went to cosmo school too but she practiced on ppl. YOU MAKE MONEYYYYYYY DOING PPLS HAIR. You can totally practice to build up your confidence level. If you go to the salon and have little confidence, you'll fall to the way side quick. Definitely ask. My mom did it and she's hella good at hair (altho she refuses to do it now =_=) and you'll make your pocket money. You could always do both but that depends on your comfortability and time management.
Maybe you could ask to do ppls hair while doing a makeup special at the salon or something.

I would talk to your mum. If she realises that, that's the reason you don't want to work in a salon I think she'd be more willing to let you practice.
And you may still be able to make some money during that.

I reckon she'll understand that there's no point in going into that job with 0 confidence if you're not gonna be able to get better and work your way up.

So definitley talk to her :D
