In New York a month, etc.

Batman can be surprisingly hard to draw for some reason. The mask is the problem. What is it made of? To what degree should the shape and location of the stylized, white, iris-less eyes correspond to the shape and location of actual eyes? Most importantly, how do the ears connect? Batman is all over my sketch book. It seems I draw Batman all the ( Read more... )

Same phone number, 512-934-1797. My address is 31 Hart St. #3, Brooklyn, NY 11206. I live in Bed-Stuy with many (pleasant) roommates. Are you in Boston? Isn't that really far?

I'm actually in Hanover, NH now, which, yeah, is really far. But I go to New York every couple of months because it's the center of the universe.

The ears are, indeed, without fail the most difficult element of Batman in every single drawing thereof. This is not particularly helped by the fact that canonical art has virtually no consistency about most of the costume's details. Tall, short, elegant, stubby, towards the front, towards the rear - there's no answer! For what do we toil! I am actually working on Batman as part of a larger piece at the moment so I commiserate fully.

Technically speaking, the mask is made of a condensed matte black graphite compound, somewhat like a ceramic plate, whereas the rest of the cowl is a reinforced plastic. Clearly, a youth spent in studious and productive manner.

Wait, the mask is like a stiff helmet basically, and he's not just wearing some kind of S&M leather thing on his face? I refuse to believe that.

which one are you going to? (SVA, Pratt... etc.)

SVA. I attended a "portfolio day" event and applied there because admissions representatives seemed stern.

that's awesome. a good friend of mine went there after high school for photography and from everything I've read/heard it sounds like a really cool place to go.

Your life just gets better and better.

I am delighted to learn that "shoot the freak" is real and not just something I imagined or heard about on some stupid network crime drama.

Are the ladies (and/or dudes) like putty in your hands, as your userpic does continue to suggest?

Yes -- you essentially pay $5 to shoot a paintball gun at a helmeted amusement park employee who assumes the ceremonial role of the freak. He holds a big board and doesn't move around very much. I shot the man in the face many times (he was wearing protection)! This attraction might not exist for much longer, at least not at Coney Island, as it is being acquired by Disney next season! Disney amusement parks are troubling, but in a less straightforward way.

Also, I am, indeed, often in the presence of rl bitches who simply will not leave me alone. It probably because of my security guard's uniform.
