Final Trip Budget
The Normal budget is what the trip cost, not counting things associated with the bike problem. Breakdown covers the costs associated with the bike problems, and Full is the combined costs. These numbers aren't perfect, but seem reasonably good.

The Ivey Household
Today, I kept going down Highway 101 until I reached what I think is the northernmost tip of highway 1. I followed that down until I reached the Ivey's. During most of this, 101 was a two lane twisty road that either wound along the beach, or through a Redwood forest. Both sections were impressive to watch. 7/31/08 A dark visor
I stopped and picked up a dark visor for my helmet today. I really wish I'd done that *before* heading into the land of eternal sunshine. -

Today was an easy ride with a lot of beautiful ocean scenery. I've just been following 101 south, but there have been plenty of state beaches, parks, harbors, and cliff lined coves with waves crashing into the rocks.
Tonight, I stopped at Oregan's Harris State Beach, and am camping in the woods nearish to the aforementioned cliffs over a state beach ( Read more... ) -
Back in Oregon
Today I did a couple of touristy thingies. I went through the Microsoft campus looking for the main entrance, but there didn't seem to be one. I did snap a picture of the evil empire while I was there. The main thing that surprised me is the shear size of the campus. I thought it would be reasonably comparable to Google, Yahoo, Apple, etc. However ( Read more... ) -
My bike by the Enterprise
Oh, I forgot to mention this. While I was leaving this morning, I got a chance to snap a picture of my bike next to the remains of the SS Enterprise! In other words, the engine parts recovered after the wooden steam boat Enterprise was allowed to rot away.
Surely, that's the Enterprise you were thinking of?

Back in Washington
Today was a pretty straight forward day, just a simple run down the highway. The problem was steady rain. While there's been a lot of rain during the trip back, it's always been on and off enough that my normal riding suit could handle it with no problems.
