I just wish they'd drop the Kennedy-era embargo. Heaven forbid we change something that JFK did, even if we've learned that the best way to drive Communism to the grave is to trade with them instead of isolating them..
However, President Bush's attitude is both saddening and also more than a little scary. I don't know that it'd be tanks 'n' troops or maybe just frying half the island in napalm. Of course, if he does the forces route, then Haliburton can get another contract for substandard concrete and barbed wire...
Whether it'll change things in Cuba is definitely up in the air. Another thing up with it is how it might change things.
I really wonder how much Bush is even in touch with reality anymore. He just does not seem to get what the rest of us see so plainly. Kinda reminds me of Michael Jackson, who is another person who has enough money/power to get people who'll tell him what he wants to hear. In Bush's case, though, I'm pretty sure there's also a group of people who're shaping just what it is he wants to hear, too.
You know, I still think invading Iraq was the right thing to do. I'd rather we fight Islamic terrorist nutbags over there instead of over here. They were never, ever just going to leave us alone. The wheels for 9/11 were in motion long before Bush took over.
But the rest...yeah. Amnesty for illegal aliens? No-bid contracts for Halliburton? Bankrupting the economy to pay for the war without raising taxes? Tax cuts while a war is on? Stopping stem cell research? Expanded H1-B visas? Waaaaay out of touch.

Sometimes I wonder if Mr. Bush has a short memory, or just assumes the public does.
