-Ha!

It took a while, but I finally got it up and running. Looks like the movie projector is fixed.
The worst part was trying to find a spare bulb, or at least one that wasn't cracked to death...

Looks like we only have a few cartoons to watch-- oh, hey, Citizen Kane.

i am useful y'know, fixed!, movie time?

[Hasn't met him in this 'form', so to speak]

You're Fox...? Err, nice to meet you.

..I know. That wasn't my intention- to worry him like that. Anyone, really.

A...movie projector? Something that projects motion, I suppose? Though I have never heard of this... "move-eee" motion. What is it?

Yeah, that's right- well, in a sense.

Y'see, it works like this. You've seen art before, right? Say, drawings and paintings, and the like.
Well, a movie puts together a bunch of still images- they vary only slightly from each other- and moves the images really fast, one after the other. It moves the images so fast that it gives the illusion of watching people walk or go about their lives. You can even apply sound and music to listen to them speak.

Moving images? I have never heard of such a thing! It must be quite unusual. So, it is merely an illusion of movement?

Actually, it's pretty commonplace where I'm from.

That's right- there's nobody really there, just the images, but it's a good way to entertain yourself. It's a very popular form of storytelling, too.

Uh, now that it's working- would you be up to watching something?
Don't worry, it's not EVA again, promise.

Weeeellll....

[Thinks for a moment]

Mostly old Betty Boop cartoons- a lot of Max Fletcher stuff in here, too.

But, hey! There's Citizen Kane.

Maybe if we're lucky, we'll find some Marx Brothers or W.C. Fields..
My mother really loved that stuff.

...We actually have movies in this place?

dontbeso_dense September 6 2008, 17:12:17 UTC
Yeah. Although, come to think of it.. I don't know how many people will actually enjoy the selection.

[sounds of rummaging ensue]

Some Betty Boop, Felix the Cat, Citizen Kane..

Oh, hey! There's some W.C Fields in here after all!
[He seems pretty pleased by this]

Is citizen Kane any good?

dontbeso_dense September 6 2008, 17:13:02 UTC
It's considered to be one of, if not the, classic American movies of the 20th century.

Then again, it all depends on your likes and dislikes.

kan_chyan September 6 2008, 17:48:38 UTC
Oh, I always tried to see all of them when I could, since there weren't that many to see.

Does it have sound like I've heard some have?

dontbeso_dense September 6 2008, 19:58:39 UTC
Not that many? There's thousands, where I'm from.

Yeah-- well, some of them do, here. A lot of the old black and white ones didn't have sound, but the later ones do.
