Granted I thought a 30-year-old Hamlet was silly when I was a teenager, but by the time I hit my late twenties it made perfect sense. Even the still-being-a-student part (I got my PhD a month before my 31st birthday).
*shrug* Well, I'm a teenager. The idea of Hamlet as 30 used to strike me as incredibly weird, because Hamlet is one of those characters that I think you can't help but see a little of yourself in. But I, generally, don't feel like a teenager, nor do I want to be one. So I've come to accept the idea of a 30-year-old Hamlet, party because 30 is really not very old, and partly because I would rather be 30 than the age I am now.
Re: still being a student, I kind of ridic love the idea of Hamlet just staying in school forever. He wouldn't even be a professor, he'd just come to every class and go "TEACH ME THINGS". This is, if he didn't die, of course. (Dammit Claudius, you let Laertes go to FRANCE, why didn't you...*grumble*)
WTF IS GOING ON IN THAT PAINTING I DON'T EVEN KNOW
Just....WTF. How is that comfortable? Worst outfit ever. It makes no sense and has no purpose. I reject it. I don't even know what's going on in the rest of the painting because all I can see is ASS.
...Well. That was a hell of a thing to open my flist to, first thing in the morning. XDDD and DDDX all at the same time.
Seriously, though, what the ever-loving fuck? That looks SO UNCOMFORTABLE and thongs aren't something I usually associate with Hamlet, though hey, maybe that's just me. :P
Oh, and it must be another Oedipal!Hamlet; that's clearly why Gertrude is going for his arse.
Oh man, too early for this...
(Also Claudius/Laertes: not a pairing I'd ever considered till I saw the MST3K version of Hamlet. XD)
I know, seriously. I wince every time I look at it. XD AUGH STOP THINKING ABOUT IT, SELF. *bangs head*
WHAT? Didn't you hear about the Thong Hamlet of '43? That was a totally groundbreaking performance! Of course, they had to cancel after just a week-long run when Laertes' dick flopped out during the duel, but...
i mean wut
I've never seen the MST3K Hamlet! I should, though... I saw the first part, then my computer crashed.

This is strange. I can't stop thinking about how that must hurt -- unless the dude wears thongs on a regular basis and is thusly used to them.
AND SHE IS REACHING FOR HIS ASS.

This whole painting makes no sense. Why are there spurs on his shoes? Why is his mother reaching for his ass? What is happening?

I DID NOT SEE THE SPURS. Oh. Oh God.
That lamp in the back looks like a damn genie's lamp.
