Weddings....eeepppp!!

So lately I've been thinking about shifting the wedding venue from Atlanta to Charleston (where my parents live). The whole idea of getting married outside on the water sounds so nice. Sam seems to be up for whatever and doesn't really have a preference where we do it. So I've been looking at venues and stuff but I really just can't tell what's ( Read more... )

You know what? My opinion, for what it's worth: I had a planner for just a few things, and I wish I would have shelled out the money for her to do more. She was a total lifesaver, and worth every penny. She was THE woman on the wedding day, so none of my family or friends had to worry about logistics or problems. It was the way to go.

I would see if it is at all possible to fit her into your budget to take care of more stuff. I mean, with the wedding being out of town and you working full time, plus if you get a place where you bring in everything, you will need help.

I think you have a good point. I talked to one coordinator yesterday and it seems like they make things real smooth sailing and take a lot of the headache out of it. And the price seems reasonable, so I just may take your advice!

I don't know anything about the area and I've only planned the one wedding, but I was all about booking a reception site that did the decorating and meal preparation for us. We paid $19.95 a head for the meal and something like another $4 a head for drinks, I think. They even handled the cake.

We just walked in the day of. We didn't have to worry about any details.

Our wedding was pretty low-key though. I just didn't care if everything was *perfect* because at the end of the day, I was going to be married. That was all that mattered. The rest was just icing.

I will say we had an awesome party.

If you do go the route of a reception hall that requires you to do some of the set-up, I bet your mom would be thrilled to coordinate that.

Wow those are some great prices! I must be looking in the wrong area :) Really I just want everyone to have fun and party - sounds like you had the right idea.
