I've decided that my dream job is "stay at home dad". Because, see, I like to stay home rather than going to work, but I also like to have money to live. So I figure if my significant other has some lucrative career, then I can afford to sit at home all day. But I'm not a total dead-beat; I'm willing to look after a kid, if it means my sugar momma ( Read more... )

the flaw in you plan is that ambitious career women don't want children, either of the grown men or sprung from their wombs variety.

I'm not sure I completely agree... Seems to me there's a subset of ambitious career women who want the picture-perfect picket-fence 2.3 kids lifestyle, but don't want to sacrifice their careers (or their figures) for it. They're the ones who adopt babies and hire nannies and are shocked to find out that they don't know their own children by the time they're teenagers... Kind of like fathers in the 50s, but they're more likely to put misbehaving kids on Ritalin than to give them the strap.

Um. But I'm sure Greg's sugar-momma won't be that type at all.

Yeah, see, I can fulfill a vital role in these women's lives. They want the kid & the career? Go for it, baby! You'll never find a more supportive stay at home dad than me. I'll even homeschool the little tykes. I'm a way better solution than the nanny. No ritalin, no expensive psychotherapy in their late twenties, just hugs and fun as far as the eye can see.

Can you imagine? Day trips to museums and art galleries, to lakes & farms, to skate parks & ski hills. My god. These kids would be so happy. I would be so happy. And this career women would be happy.

Everybody fucking wins here. This is the greatest idea I've ever had.

God. That is a great idea. I wish I'd had that idea first! Oh wait, I did, but it's not as interesting coming from a girl. Damn you and your patriarchal hegemony that makes you cute for saying this!
