Arf blah blah Sep 10 pig's butt

Yesterday I signed up for the US Half Marathon. http://www.ushalf.com/default.htm It's kind of daunting. I just did it on impulse. I've found that I NEED deadlines and goals to stay productive and successful. The Bay to Breakers was 7.5 miles and this one is 13.1. So I'll need ( Read more... )

I know it may feel at times like your train got derailed, but really you've just been on a different set of tracks this whole, time, still moving forward, still becoming someone with value and talents and importance. The guy that was joking around yesterday, making people laugh and being a good guy who cares about his friends, is the SAME guy that everyone has known all along, and the reason why people like your in the first place. We just are lucky enough to get him all the time now, rather than for an hour or two before he disappeared ( ... )

thanks Moe. It was just some old timey jitters, a boozy flashback, or a floosy backflash, which is also traumatic -- I've seen those on Market St I think.

It feels good to have made it out the other end. There are just sweeping areas I have no recollection of, just blazes of white. Sometime I'd like to compare notes on what you saw and what went on and who I was but right now I'm still too close to it. I just feel lucky to have friends that saw that part of me and that didn't give up. How did you know I'd mke it? I sure didn't.. I don't even know how it happened exactly. It was just sort of like that Bugs Bunny cartoon where he's in plane, plummeting to the earth and then it suddenly stops, an inch of the ground and BB climbs out saying "Hmmph -- how 'bout that, ran out a gas!"

I'm glad too! I wouldn't a missed it for nothin'! :)

Things like your sobriety are the very definition of Faith. I don't know quite why we felt you'd make it, because there wasn't always reason to, but we just did because we hoped you would. It's just that part of friendship where you try not to lose sight of that person that is there underneath whatever issue a person might be having. You've always been a good egg, we were just waiting for you to finally stop scrambling yourself. :)

I want to start off by just saying how proud of you I am. Personal change is the hardest change to make. Thinking at all about where it comes from is even harder ( ... )

Cliftons Cafeteria? I used to go there all the time with my mom when I was a kid. There's also Canter's Deli in LA - which is always fantastic. I don't live in LA proper so I'll ask a friend who does if there is someplace great to go to.

I don't see it as fishing for compliments at all. I think it's amazing that you were able to make this change without a 12 step. I don't know anyone else who has.

I've already marked that weekend in my calendar. I'm really looking forward to it. :)

what RR and GP said......

stuff stuff stuff.

sorry about the car - but good gosh golly, that makes for a scene in a movie, does it not? It seemed like such a pretty car too.

You're welcome anytime down in Mill Valley or Sausy land - lots of good spots for running. And if you ever wanna hang out, too.... cool folk in marin are few and far between. ;)
take care.

ah, there are always more cars. I wish I had the money I spent, but that's life. I'd rather have a sedan anyhow.

Thanks! Me and Joey are looking for spots to run as got him a certificate to Fleet Feet so's he can get running shoes and join me for his birthday...

We need to do another movie night! Maybe in a couple weeks.. any movie suggestions? Zapped! is always good, but unfortunately it's not on dvd..

ah....... the best stuff. it's never yet on dvd, is it? There's this awesome 80s Justine Bateman vehicle I have on VHS. "Satisfaction" -- It has a pre-hip-and-ass-lipo Julia Roberts as the bass player in Justine's all girl plus one-guy-on-keyboards urban (SF) band who go up to a (stinson?) beach-side club for the summer, run by Liam Neeson. Liam is a has-been songwriter, now club manager, who reluctantly hires the band of misfits for the summer, and ends up having a semi-liaison with Justine. In real life, he was having a semi-liaison with Julia. Very very cool.....
