THIS IS AN UPDATE POST ABOUT THE CROSS-POSTING ISSUE

Apparently someone from the LJ stuff got the short stick out because he/she had to leave a comment to the now highly infamous post.
They said they are working on it.
Actually the news post was update with this: (direct quote)

Thank you for taking the time to offer your honest feedback.
We understand and appreciate your desire for privacy.
We share your concerns.
Most of us would not want to publish our LiveJournal usernames or FO comments
to Facebook or Twitter either (to the extent we even use them).
Please give us a little time to address your concerns.
We are listening, and we'll do our best to respond.

Please, bear with me, but I'm just going to underline the idiocy of what they wrote.

"We share your concerns" -> FALSE if you did, you wouldn't have created something like that in the first place!
Second, you could have sent someone to reply to the HUGE amount of angry replies you got WAY BEFORE THAN WHEN YOU DID!!!
(current situation: 108 pages, 6,494 comments and growing)

"Most of us would not want to publish our LiveJournal usernames or FO comments
to Facebook or Twitter either" -> THEN WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?!?!
F-list, you can easily understand why other users got even more pissed off when they read about it.

"We are listening, and we'll do our best to respond" -> Instead of doing this now, why not asking to the users if they wanted something like that in the first place?!?!

This is seriously fucked up.

For those of you who don't know yet what happened, you can look here (entry is public).

What many users pointed out are situations like this one:

"Some of the comments to posts might be like:
  1. I hope your test results will be negative!
  2. Good luck getting your job there, I know the boss is a douchbag
  3. You should keep all your gay porno videos in your drawer, behind the socks, like I do
  4. You really think it's safe to let your kids go to school by themselves?
  5. idk how you can say you like incest-related fanfics and dislike m-preg ones
And so on...
Considering nowadays everybody has Facebook or Twitter (your boss, your loved one, your friends, your neighbors, your students, your co-workers and such), I wouldn't like to see a comment like that being cross-posted to one of those sites and have my life (and maybe even my career) ruined."

I totally agree with the person who wrote that.
LJ, like other similar sites, was created for people who wanted a "hiding" place.
The comments cross-posting option is one of the worst idea LJ ever came out with.

As I already said, this is the first time I experience such a mass exodus towards other websites, the main one being DW (Dreamwidth).
About DW, during the last 24 hours, they got 9,350 new accounts!!!
People are deleting their LJ accounts, importing all their stuff there, stopping payments with LJ and such.
This is really crazy.

ABOUT TAGS
There was that problem about the slash " / " used in tags.
Apparently the problem is solve now.
BUT, just to be sure, if you have tags with a slash in your journal or in the communities you mantain/mod, please check if they work.
If it's okay, then the problem is solved.
If they still don't work, write to the support stuff.

THIS ENTRY WILL REMAIN PUBLIC, so feel free to point it out to ur f-list if they need infos and such.
