Started out at Red Creek today. It was a good first day. They have block scheduling where the classes meet every day for a semester. So, the challenge is going to be keeping the class moving and staying ahead on my class prep. I'm fairly certain it won't be a problem, but we'll see.

Friday night, we headed to the hotel. The cab driver we had from the airport to the hotel was amazing. He talked to us the whole way over, giving us ideas for places to eat and things to see while in town.

This entire week got away from me. There was grading to finish. Work that didn't get done because of PAX East to do. There were pieces of unfinished things all over the place. This strange sense of closure, happiness mixed with sadness at the end of my first placement.

Home from PAX East. It was an amazing weekend. Finishing work before taking a shower and going to bed. The full update will come tomorrow afternoon.

Last night I went on a trip to find some water to use in lab on Friday. The usage is predicated by the functioning of the oxygen sensors. This morning I felt like I had been hit by a truck. After a two hour nap, I feel better. Now to finish my coffee and get some work done. I feel like I'm moving through a fog. My head full of pressure, pain settling in around my eyes. Part of me is waiting for Randy to get home. I feel better when he's here, even if he can't do anything about the fact that I'm sick. It's a proximity thing.

This has been a long week. Monday went well, teaching my soils lesson to the kids. Tuesday was just rough. Yesterday was... I felt like I was stuck in something thick, trying hard to push through. Papers left in different places, lost for minutes on end. It wasn't completely horrible. I did get a good evaluation from my supervisor.

Started my short story on Thursday. Wrote most of it Friday. Finished it yesterday. Edited and submitted it today. I feel like an actual writer now. A fantastic, wonderful writer wrapped in the possibility of being published. The payday would be nice too. Not going to lie about that.

Spent Monday and Tuesday down at my parents. I got my car fixed. The muffler is reattached. The oil has been changed.
I found my Great Grandmother's cookie jar upstairs. So many wonderful memories tied to that cookie jar. It's a dark brown, fading to tan at the very top. The lid is cracked and glued back together. There would be Archway cookies in ( Read more... )
