I have just now finished reading Tamora Pierce's "Protector of the Small" series. It took two days and a bunch of money I shouldn't have spent but it was worth it. I was shocked, however, to come to the end of the series and find that all of the major cast of characters were actually alive. At the end of the Alana series just about everybody
