mocha the miracle dog

SO
mocha has been with me for over 17 years
i can't even begin to imagine my life without her

for the past 48 hours i have had to do just that
saturday morning she woke me up with odd breathing
and then splayed on the floor
we took her to the vet
who ran blood tests and x-rayed her
and pronounced her ok
put her on new pain meds
and explained that because she

she's so much better today that it's like a different dog.

Oh Eliza, my heart breaks for your heartbreak.

She's being so strong for you... Holding on another day to be with her Mama. Sweet, sweet girl.

You will know when it's time. I wish I was there to hug you and just be a shoulder when... I will be here, though.

if i thought that she was just being strong i would be really stressed......she actually just came in from running around in the yard and eating and is eyeballing the steps to go up to bed as i type this.......i talked to the vet today and she said that upping the pain meds was a great idea (even though it was a last resort in my mind)and would have been her recommendation had i come in with her today......so it may be that she was just in too much pain after her fall, and then being moved around to be xrayed and being carried several times by the vet tech to get her oxygen when they thought she needed it yesterday........i'm thinking and hoping that the pain relief was what she needed to get past this and have a few more weeks/months ....whatever it is, i'll take it :) we were such a mess yesterday......thanks for the prayers jen!

Makes perfect sense and it sounds like you intuited just what she needed. There's no connection like ours with our pups, huh?

I hope that she feels better and better (and that you de-stress!) and that you two make lots more wonderful memories together as time goes on.

I don't like even thinking about my life without Lola, and you and Mocha are such a package deal...that's too horrible to comprehend. I am glad she's feeling better, and I'll be praying and crossing my fingers for her continued progress and health.
