dude i TOTALLY feel you on -- how much xabi has changed. i mean, in this universe specifically, but also in terms of hunting for pictures of him; when he's at sociedad, and his first couple years of liverpool, he is this complete doof:

and i wonder how he came to be how he is. because when i look at stevie i get the impression he is still very much the guy he was 5 years ago. (aside from all the maturing and growth you achieve from getting married and having a family and having all your football loves abandoning you etc). When did he make this conscious/unconscious decision to become the man he is now? did something happen? and what i love about this fic, your incredible fic, (besides everything obvs) is that it seems to parallel so much with RL. and because i'm so engrossed with your story-telling i realise a lot of it after the fact. so it'll be like "oh, stevie is angry at xabi and thinks he's a mercenary because xabi left him to go work for mour-- OIC WAT U DID THAR ♥_♥"

wait. what was i talking about again? also it's simply AMAYSING that you update pretty much every week. and yet i'm completely insatiable and i just keep wanting MOAR.

I can't even find where to start I'm all over the place like OH THIS WAS AWESO- OHHH AND THIS! AND THIS! AND HOW IS HE EVEN REAL! and then rereading it all in the wrong order but hey, so...

...so, yeah, I love it? There's something so great about both freshman!Xabi and barelylegal!Cesc being so young and tentative and precious and yet you can already see how... how unselfconscious Cesc is, and how Xabi is so, so not, he's already closing off defensively while Cesc... I mean if Cesc were any more open he basically wouldn't have edges at all. And in my head that's what totally scares Iker the most (he HID UNDER A DESK I had to go over that a few times before I believed those words meant what I thought they meant HE HID UNDER THE DESK OH MY GOD) and so when Cesc is all "because you told me to do it", which is idk so trusting and sweet, which is lovely (and also mature and patient, which is lovely too), Iker is just like "I AM DOOMED
