Damn kids! Get off your ass and buy a bike! And cut your hair while you're at it!

Honestly, though, at times like this I am glad I'm a cyclist. I see a lot more people biking around the city this May, and it's still early in the season. I plan to bike more than last year, if I can.

I'd say you wouldn't like it so much to bike to Framingham from Somerville every day (the 50-mile round-trip commute constitutes about 3/4 my mileage weekly) but I know that no, you'd like that just fine. Because you are crazy.

And I mean that in the best possible way ;-P

Seriously, though, I used to bike to commute from Evanston to downtown Chicago when I lived there one summer (2003), which was a 30-mile round trip. Chicago was just so much kinder to bikes, though. By which I mean "had bike paths" and "was flat."

I'm so pissed because I filled up when it was cheap but then had to do a ton of driving so now my tank is only at 1/4. I'm actually not going to 2 separate cook-outs this weekend because I can't afford the gas.

Yeah, gas is a major ouchie. I've seen a couple stations still at $2.99 (or they were on Wednesday) but I'm sure they're all going up for this big driving holiday weekend. Bastards.

That is why we are buying a new tiny Japanese car (although not a hybrid...). 26 MPG city, 30 highway, shaped like a MFin' bento box. And by "we" I mean "Elliot." I will miss the 15 year old Camry, though. :(

I just want to get a hybrid so I can sneak up on people walking while listening to headphones and run them over, really.

Erm... so long as they're walking downhill, I guess.

I recently found the cheapest gas station in Morioka. It sells regular gas for just over $2 per liter.

I was gonna convert it directly to $/gal, but I figured that'd be too much. ;)

I can multiply by 3.8 on my own, thank you very much ;-P

That's nothing! Gas is $3.60 or so in Northern California right now...
