Goodbye, LJ World
This past weekend there was an awful lot of hullabaloo about The Tenth Anniversary. So maybe my own little anniversary doesn't seem like such a big deal?
Sept 13th, 2001 was my very first LJ entry. I started right on the heels of The Sept 11th.

Lots of news lately.
G's in the process of buying a house. We go to meet with the inspector on Friday. If there aren't any big issues there then I guess it's pretty much a done deal. I keep saying "we" when I talk about the house, but for various pragmatic reasons it's a "him" thing and I' ( Read more... ) -

Me: "I have a lot of trouble driving at night. When there's an oncoming car, I slow down because I can't see the road or any of my surroundings. I try to remember where the road was and wait for the car to pass. It's a big problem for me on dark roads. At work I have one foot mentally out the door already.

Sometimes you can find comedy among the tragedy. For example, right now on NHK they're having an extremely serious panel discussion on pooping in times of crisis.
I've made up my mind to continue getting NHK after this is over. I miss J-TV way, way too much. I need that daily dose of crazy. -
Highs and Lows
What a weekend.
Of course you've heard in the news by now of the quake off the coast of Sendai, the tsunami, the risk of nuclear meltdown. And, probably just like when the Haiti quake or the Katrina flooding happened, you stared at the TV or computer saying, "oh, how horrible" and then got on with your day.

Lordy, how the time does pass. If I'm to get a post in for February, though, this would be the time.
I took a snow day today. Although not technically blizzard conditions, we've had pretty heavy snow and wind for the last 12 hours (about 2"/hour with 20 mph winds at the peak). I did put in a good effort this morning: got up at 4:30, showered ( Read more... )
