You can't own a pit bull puppies in Ontario, because ya know they are inherently vicious despite what the Supreme Court of Alabama said, but primates are a-okay! They're completely domestic, and have never known to bite people. What more can you ask for in a pet?

Domestic skunks are also banned, but not tigers (all you need basically is a piece of paper to have one).

You can definitely own domestic skunks as long as your own municipality allows it, but they must generally not be from wild stocks. Animals must be proven captive bred (this is usually easiest if they are non-black and white i.e. apricot), and require specific licensing from the government.
While this is hard to read, on the first page it states that monkeys are not permitted as pets in Hamilton. Neither are reptiles. http://www.myhamilton.ca
