You can't own a pit bull puppies in Ontario, because ya know they are inherently vicious despite what the Supreme Court of Alabama said, but primates are a-okay! They're completely domestic, and have never known to bite people. What more can you ask for in a pet?http://

Ontario is full of retardation.

-2 am last call
-nothing stays open past 7 on a Saturday unless it's booze related
-Gov't controlled liquor sales
-Pit Bull ban
-Pizza Pizza (though that's a nationwide fuckup)

Yep.

Domestic skunks are also banned, but not tigers (all you need basically is a piece of paper to have one).

I had a friend in 4-H that got a skunk as a pet... dumb bitch kept it in a tiny wire rabbit cage (like 12" by 18") and fed it cheap cat food that you can find at mom & pop street corner convenient stores, and the poor thing died of a prolapsed rectum.

While I agree that the pit bull ban is extremely stupid, I just want to point out that in most provinces in Canada, unlike U.S. states, the provicinal government is NOT in charge of animal restriction by-laws; this is up to the municipal governments (i.e. each city/county has their own restrictions). I am pretty certain almost all municipalities in Ontario with the exception of perhaps a few very low-population northern ones ALL ban primates, and big cats.

You can definitely own domestic skunks as long as your own municipality allows it, but they must generally not be from wild stocks. Animals must be proven captive bred (this is usually easiest if they are non-black and white i.e. apricot), and require specific licensing from the government.

While this is hard to read, on the first page it states that monkeys are not permitted as pets in Hamilton. Neither are reptiles. http://www.myhamilton.ca
