I'm still not certain how antivirus software is going to protect my unicorn from a mayhem obsessed Dolph Lundgren but this add does explain why there is such a shortage of unicorns. Next time we see a post by someone saying how hard it is for them to find their perfect ( Read more... )

Actually, it does make sense in context of the advertising campaign. I sincerely doubt this is any sort of backhanded poly reference.

Yeah, you are probably right and that song about being really vain is probably not about me.

How does the ad not make sense? They wanted to make internet security cute and funny. They succeeded.

Now, what's hilarious is the shitstorm this ad is causing on FetLife. Apparently, poly jokes about unicorns are JUST LIKE RACISM OH MY GOD because, like, couples looking for a third are so oppressed.

Oh PLEASE say you have caps of this!

I could, but I always feel a little icky capping something that's restricted-access (since you have to be logged into FL to see the discussions). If you have an account, the thread is here.

No, I've been resisting the pestering of friends on that score (not enough time), but I'm sorely tempted to join so I can see what sounds like a gold star bit of idiocy.

*snrk* That's just awesome.

Unrelated, I think you should be using ad rather than add ;) And I suspect you meant ad agency rather than adjacency. Feel free to delete this comment btw, I won't be offended in the slightest.

Well, I will be if you delete it and don't correct the spelling errors. Just sayin :)

Speaking as a professional spelling corrector (among other things), you have my gratitude. It's not only exhausting, but LONELY. *hugs*

Totally on topic - this ad makes *total* sense.

Think about where they're airing the ad. Who is the target market?

They've effectively created a series (three at least that I know of) of OMGWTFBBQ? ads that are bizarre, hilarious, and well-done. Their ads have gone (quietly) viral, and the hip young people on teh interwebs are seeing them, and that's who they're trying to reel in. Especially with the advent of relatively good -free- av software.
