Where one must find beauty, one must also find ugliness, and with love, hate, for one only exists in relativity to another. Once you learn to separate yourself from feelings of love or hate (becoming sort of a spectator to your own emotions) you will learn to appreciate things much more. It takes a lot of patience, but it is well worth it in my opinion.

Buddhist, my dear. It's like sitting at the bottom of the ocean watching everything pass by, as opposed to being tossed around in the current of a shallow river. Even animals suffer/enjoy emotions. The defining element of human existence, I believe is the ability to end suffering.
