...hi. Been thinking about what that guy just said...

If something happens when people go nuts around here, like [like she's trying the word out] a flood, does it get held against you? I've been hearing people talking about their "twins" and like they turn into someone else, but I've never gotten hit like that, so I don't know ( Read more... )

talking to strangers again, uncomfortable questions, security: public, dammit richie

I don't think it ought to be held against a person, but it's perfectly natural to feel some amount of guilt on those occassions when you retain that other person's memories. They're certainly not you, though.

It's the same body, right? [The "how is it not you" is implied.]

I don't believe so. Not in those instances where the person you "become" remembers an entire lifetime different from your own.

From my experience, "twins" aren't anything like that. If you're referring to the physical similarities between people, I mean. It's just a weird coincidence of genetics. [Keep telling yourself that, Capa...]

As for floods, it's difficult to say if you're still you. I guess you'd have to define who you are first.

Somebody who was telling me about it called that other person she was her twin. I'd thought it was still her, you know?

Oh, I understand what you mean now.

Most people cope by refusing to acknowledge the other entity's presence or influence. Or they cope by refusing to acknowledge the results of whatever "that other person" did.

So, because they didn't want to do it, it didn't happen?

Sometimes... Mostly, not - others have experienced the same.

It's like growing an extra head. [Hoffman is having a bad mood. All of his introspection was interrupted so now he's just in his vindictive predator mode.

Have fun.]

[The camera flickers on for a second, but when she realizes who she's responding to, her eyes widen, she shakes her head, and clicks it off.]

[no no.]

...what? It's a valid point. I've been two kinds of people.

[less confrontational? in any case she thinks she has someone to set on you if it gets too bad.] What do you mean?

[He's going to snap because of all this talk. He can't snap. It wasn't him, right? Therefore, it doesn't count. So he can hold himself together.]

I don't hold it against them.

They couldn't help what they were made into. They had no control over themselves.

[But he does very much hold it against this ship.]

[She can tell you're not okay with the idea, while everyone else seems so relaxed.] Yeah. Not knowing what anyone's gonna be like tomorrow...

I suppose the ship shaking should signal the need to give people the benefit of the doubt. [He's trying. Very hard.]

[She's not going to add any questions to that one; he's already implied the answers.] Least we know if it might not be them.
