V-related angst

Mar 03, 2006 12:09

Before you ask, NO. No I did not get V tickets. Not only this indignity, but also the fact that no-one else I know did either. It's shit. The whole system. Fucking touting bastards. I realise there's not really any other way of doing things, but I just wish steps could be taken to reduce touting...it's so unfair on people that just want to see the ( Read more... )

why, what did they do? did everyone's name have to be on the ticket or something? cos that's so impractical. and what happens if you genuinely can't go and need to sell your ticket?

its not impractical at all. what, there might be 50p or something added to the cost of printing the tickets, and about 30 seconds longer per person to get into the site. i dont think thats impractical, given the benefits.
if you cant go, you just send you ticket back, and its sold on to someone else who wants it, and the profit doesnt go to some arsehole.

yeah, but there's not gonna be any benefits for the organisers though, is there? v is fucking commercial anyway, and they don't really care *who* has the tickets or how much they paid...as long as they make money. it's not gonna happen.

plus, it would surely rule out anyone buying ticket for you? for example, my mum bought my morrissey tickets for me, cos i'd just lost my card. and with your plan, i wouldn't be able to go unless she came too. which'd be crap. and what about tickets as presents?

it was a big hasstle, the way glastonbury did things, but it did work...

thing is, I was willing to go through the whole signing up for ID cards bollocks becuase it was glastonbury! Same deal for alot of people...dunno if other festivals could get away with doing it...

I'm sad about V tickets right now, but it's okay, cause we'll get some later when more go on sale.

SHUT UP! YES WE WILL!

I wouldn't say V is a shit festival as such, i mean...it doesn't have anywhere near the same sort of atmosphere and so on as say...Glastonbury...but yeah. V lives or dies on the strength of it's lineup. So while last year, V would've been pretty poor, this year it's looking like it'll be really good...

but yeah...apart from Glastonbury, no other festival would be willing to stop touting. Because it makes no difference to them what happens to the tickets after they've made their money...not just V...but Reading/Leeds and T in the Park etc too...they're all just as corporate as V really...

meh! im sticking with glasto in the future. at least i know all of the money i spend is going to a good cause.
the lineup this year is so good i think it has probably convinced a lot of people who might never have thought about going there to go (or at least to try to get a ticket, grumble grumble), so the crowd, and hence the atmosphere, might be a lot better than we imagine.
on the other hand, its gonna be shite, and we have done well in saving our money and watching it on tv.
