This, start to finish, is beautiful, emotional and completely heart-wrenching. As nice as the idealized blue-eyed baby story is, there's a lot more truth and feeling in the journey you took House and Cuddy on instead, coming close but having it slip away.

I can't see a blue-eyed baby coexisting with anything remotely resembling a functional Huddy relationship. It's too normative, too happy, and too close to a critical mass of screwed-up for it to come off as anything but a Vicodin fantasy.

Thanks - I initially wanted to do more anti-canon references, including someone else being in a Vicodin stupor, but it seemed like too much to jam into five chapters and too tangential. But I am glad you caught the intention to juxtapose my version of canon with TPTB's acid trip. Sometimes I worry this stuff only makes sense in my head.

Inserting LJ links drive me nuts - I don't know if it's my browser or the universe screwing with me but it always takes me three or four tries. I'll try to get off my lazy behind and at least post a link to fanfic.net in each chapter and tag them, though.
