SEA FEVER

May 11, 2006 12:44

Pairing: Lily/James

Author: Dr. Fawkes

Disclaimer: Yeah. Yeah. I’m J.K. Rowling, and I’m writing these one-shots because I’ve nothing better to do. And if you believe that, you deserve a special place in Mrs. Norris’s rice bowl.

Other Notes: This is a one-shot in a series called “CURTAIN”. (I wrote this ages ago, but I’m posting it late.)

Lovely as ever, DrF. Where's the rest of the series?

Oh, how beautiful!!

And suddenly, it strikes James with the intensity of a supernova, that they are alone on this forgotten beach, all alone beneath a lazy midsummer blue sky. They are all alone by the laughing sea, and she belongs to him.

I have no clear idea why I adore that part so much. If only I had your beautiful way with words, I could describe in detail just how captivating this was. Alas, I don't. I have the strangest affinity with the ocean, and I am thrilled at how you incorporated it into this story as if it were a character in itself, which I suppose it was.

I bow down and worship....

Ooh, yes. I adore and worship the sea as well. And thats a great way to put it..."The sea as a separate character itself".
Oh, my goodness! I'm all red with pleasure. Such lovely words...*Sighs dramatically* ^_^

I was talking to vea last night about the ocean and I remembered something my cousin Catherine once wrote in an essay about the sea. It is something I am intending to put into my own story... Girl... but I thought I would tell you.. see what you think. I emailed her tonight and asked her to send me the little thing she wrote ( ... )

I couldn't possibly agree more with your cousin...And just like you, I happen to be obsessed with the sea. I spend hours on google, hunting for photographs of the sea. :D

I love that description of the Irish sea--
I especially love the Irish Sea. It is so wild and untamed, which is how I prefer it to be, crashing against the sand, caring for nothing or no one in an almost tenacious manner and roaring as if announcing it's presence. It gives me such a feeling of freedom.

I must go down to the sea again.

i love this.
i've been reading too many humour fics lately (shocking, i know... one would think you could never get too many) and this has been refreshing. kind of like that iced tea you get on a hot humid day in summer after swimming for hours... the sweet kind, not the bitter kind that actually tastes like tea.
oh dear. i wish i had your gift for words, because that sentence just came out all wrong... but i think you'll get it.
sweet and refreshing.

“I love you, Mrs. P.,” he says, his heart contracting painfully.

When i read that... my heart contracted painfully too. (collective "awww" at Dr. Fawkes' beautiful sentence above).
sniff.

"Sweet and Refreshing". Awww....Thank you! I love iced tea as well, though not plain (bitter) tea. ^_^

You like humour fanfics? Ditto for me.
Have you tried Beedaily's Commentarius? Its utterly hilarious.
Oh, and you can also try out my [L/J] fic "Memoirs of a Pixie" at this link-
