Kaylee nods with a smile. "I remember, Momma." she says walking over to the cabinets. "What we makin' anyway?"

Lee frowns. "Mal gettin' hurt again. Lit'Kaylee says his always gettin' himself hurt." A shrug. "Guess that's why he needs a Doc." He chuckles.

Penny beams. "We can make anythin' m'baby girl wants."

Simon's sigh is one of fond exasperation, as he nods in agreement. "Yes, Mal is always getting himself hurt. I think I'd die of shock if he ever came back from a job without needing a doctor."

Kaylee kisses her mom's cheek. "How about dumplin's? Always missed my Momma's dumplin's."

Another chuckle from the older man. "Well, that's Malcolm Reynolds for ya. Ain't t' worried about himself less his crew is safe. Why I let lit'Kaylee work for 'im. Takes right good care of 'er. And a father needs t'know that his baby girl bein' taken care of."

There might be a hint in there Simon....

"Dumplin's for my girl it is, then,. Fetch me the bowl and get out the fixin's."

Oh, Simon gets the hint, all right. "You have nothing to fear, Lee. Kaylee is part of a crew who loves her dearly," he says. "And I would do nothing less for Kaylee than I did for my own sister."

Kaylee gives Simon a slight smile, still trying to figure out the whole smirk and wink thing.

Though soon, Lee is ushering Simon out of the kitchen with the bags to show him where to put them and where to wash up. Even though, Simon didn't need it.....

Penny turns to her daughter and smiles. "I can handle it from here, lovey. Your ol'room s'all fixed up for ya. You run off and wash that flour off your face."

Simon follows Lee and once his and Kaylee's bags are stashed in the right rooms, he washes up and changes into something less formal, yet very much Simon-esque.

She kisses her mom's cheek. "Thanks, Momma. I'll be right back t'help though." And then she is skipping off.

It's a small house so the guest room is right across from Kaylee's old room. She looks at the closed door for a moment as if considering something. A soft sigh and she turns into her own room and closes the door to wash up and change.

Lee was done and back in the kitchen in his usual record time. He smiles at his wife and then starts to set the table.

Penny's got dinner cooking and yummy smells are starting to fill the house.

"Well, th'boy seems nice enough," she comments to her huband, absently.

Simon, knowing that mom and dad need a moment or two to have a quick meeting about first impressions, takes a moment to settle into his room.

Penny beams at her husband. She pats his cheek. "Gimmie a hand finishin' this up," she says, motioning towards the rest of dinner. "Kids'll be back soon."

Simon cups Kaylee's face and kisses her chastely. "I think we've given them enough time," he says softly. He lets his touch linger before he takes her hand and leads her back to her parents.

"Alright, luv." he says turning to the dinner and helping her finish up.

Kaylee beams at Simon after the kiss, thinking that she was simply burst from the love she felt for him. She wraps her fingers around his hand and lets him lead her back to the kitchen. When they enter, Kaylee closes her eyes and breathes through her nose. "Oh, Momma! It smells so yummy!" she says brightly as her eyes open again.

By the time Simon and Kaylee arrive, Penny's giving her husband with a kiss on the cheek for helping and then putting the first dishes on the table.

Simon gives Kaylee's hand a squeeze, smiling at her enthusiasm. "It looks wonderful, Mrs. Frye."

Penny blushes. "T'weren't nuthi' dear. Now sit, 'fore it gets cold."

Kaylee smiles and leads Simon to the table.

Lee comes over and puts the some more dishes on the table, he gives his daughter a smile and heads back into the kitchen.

Kaylee beams at Simon before moving to pull out her chair and sit.

A smile and a nod from Lee. "Yep, me baby girl keeps that ol'boat flyin'." he says simply.

Kaylee's eyes fall. Yeah, the complaint on Serenity was nice, but it wasn't really the answer she was hoping for out of Simon....

Oh, Kaylee. Silly girl, you should know better by now.

Simon's gaze is drawn to his Lady, and the look he gives her is absolutely adoring. "Not to mention none of the other ships had such a pretty girl barking for passengers."

Penny smile and sighs happily, looking up at her husband. The look she gives him says yep, you were right. He loves her...

Kaylee's face brightens with a smile and looks up at Simon. Her face just glowing with love.

Lee chuckles softly and looks at his wife and matches her smile. Maybe, he'll let them sleep in the same room................................................nah.

Simon shares the look with Kaylee as long as he dares, before he turns back to his dinner, a partial smile still playing over his lips.

Yep, definitely going to be a loooong two weeks...

Kaylee giggles listening her mother being her "king kitchen dictor mode".

She looks up at her dad. "I should save 'im." she says simply.

Lee chuckles and hugs Kaylee's shoulders. "Nah, baby girl. Let your momma have 'er fun."

Kaylee giggles softly.

Simon takes the orders in the good nature in which they're given, not minding in the least. And soon, between the two, dinner is cleared away and the kitchen is spotless.

Penny stands and admires the work. "No'bad fer a city boy."

Lee walks over to Simon and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Yep, not bad at all." he says looking around.

Kaylee stood near by watching and beaming. Her hands clasped together in front of her.

Simon's grateful that Kaylee didn't mention his neat-freak tendency at this point. Hell, meticulous infirmary - when Jayne wasn't trashing it - meticulous room and spotless clothing...

Yep. Neat-freak.

"I'm glad I could help," he says simply.

Penny just gives him a look that suggests he's going to be helping an aweful lot in the kitchen while he's here.
