As always, Magnus is being an insomniac and doing work in the lab well past the godly hours. A rarity, however, is the quiet Gershwin she has playing. Usually, as most know, she prefers a silent setting to work in, but tonight is different for some inexplicable reason.

Her overall mood is not hostile by any means (the entire Sanctuary knows when ( Read more... )

A sleepy shrinky-dink is wander when he sees light spilling out from under a door.

"Magnus?" he murmurs, tapping on the frame.

"Yes?" she calls, face buried in her microscope.

"Hey," he greets her, entering her lab. "Studying something interesting?"

"Mhm," she murmurs, only part of her really acknowledging him. She's more aware of his scent than his actual presence, and she doesn't even look up to scribble down some shorthand about the blood sample she's studying.

Ashley comes out of the infirmary wrapping a plaster around her thumb. Usually she didn't care about covering the cuts on her hand but with Declan being as protective as he is, she thought it best to place a plaster on it. It wasn't anything serious anyway, but she didn't want to risk infection.

Ashley wasn't usually one for insomnia or disturbed sleep but it slowly became an annoying habit. She passes by her mother's lab and notices the light on and the melodic notes of Gershwin floating from the room. Ashley wonders how that CD still even works with the amount of times her mother plays it. She gently pokes her head in through the door and sees Magnus's face buried in the microscope. Silently, without making a disturbing sound, Ashley walks in and leans on the table, propping her knee up on a stool and sitting on her good leg.

"Penny for your thoughts?" she says gently, feigning an English accent.

She smiles, face still buried into the scope. "Shape your o's more." Clearing her throat, she demonstrates, repeating the line back to Ashley in a more fluid Victorian than her normal lilt.

Ashley smiles at her mother's response. She nods understanding, taking the advice into consideration.

"Noted," she replies, "Blood samples?"

"Mhm," she replies, nodding and returning to her study. "Trying to find something to penetrate my impenetrable blood."

Owen was wandering the Sanctuary, trying to get his bearings for this weird old place. He truly hasn't noticed the time. Being dead, he's spent every night up and walking anyway.

He knocks on the door of the lab, frowning at the unfamiliar music. Two seconds later and he gets bored and pushes the door open.

"Evening," he greets the woman bent over a microscope. "Owen Harper, Torchwood CMO. Yes, like the TV show. Maybe Zimmerman mentioned me?" he adds, holding up his card.

Then he takes one step closer and stops dead. He's never seen the woman before in his life but he knows her feeling, her presence, and that is bloody scary.

"Oh, my God..."

The first segment of dialogue, besides recognizing an unfamiliar tenor voice in the room, registered as nothing more than a stream of incoherent consciousness, which may have had something to do with her attempt to count white blood cells and compare them to her earlier notes.

At the exclamation, however, she looks up from her microscope and takes in the thin, pale form of the stranger in her lab.

"Excuse me?"

He just stares at her, shock and wonder in about equal parts. Defenses broken by the sheer weirdness of having felt her before.

"You're Will's lady," he says finally, holding up one shaky finger. "The one with the funny voice and brown hair... Christ, I... I know you."

She quirks a brow. "Will's... lady? Well, I am the administrator of this facility. Dr. Helen Magnus," she says, leaning forward and extending her hand. "My apologies, I missed your name."

Morgana is still moving rather gingerly - two cracked ribs will do that for you - although the bruising on her face has faded a fair amount and she feels comfortable enough to wander the corridors without feeling like everyone is staring at her, wondering what happened.

The sound of music from Magnus's lab catches her attention as she passes and she pops her head in, smiling with affection when she sees the good doctor hard at work.

"Are all you geniuses terrible insomniacs?" she asks lightly, a tone more playful than she's ever used around the other woman before.

Morgana's mood has been light of late though and she hasn't seen Magnus since herself and Nikola returned from Bhalasaam. A friendly 'hello' was long overdue.

Magnus wasn't the only one up at an ungodly hour. Kate was wandering the halls again, almost a week here and she was still shaky on the floorplan of the enormous building. She hadn't even gotten a glimpse of the lower levels, and doubted she would without reason too. It was about time to make herself seem useful around here.

For the moment though, she was just looking for Dr. Zimmerman's office. With all the intake files and details of the recent refugees the information could be worth a lot, but she had to check out the security first. Which....didn't seem so good, considering that the lights were on and the door unlocked....

Whoops.

"Uh, sorry, wrong room." Kate excused weakly when she spotted Dr. Magnus bent over a table.
