I picked one where "local equivalent" is a pile that eventually gets shuffled into the letter box. So far I have not filled this box with letters. I suspect that when it gets full I'll weed, but since it's not full yet, they all get stuffed in there. At some point I expect that the weeded cards will be fun for the kids to cut up.

I save them up to make these crazy Martha Stewart tree ornaments. I've made one of them so far. You cut up the cards into circles and then you make them into these:

I swear, this is the only Martha Stewart link you will ever get from me. But they're really cool because you can save the best parts from each card and recycle the rest.

Those are really cute! I like the oragami look of them. Will you show me how to do it sometime?

I read them, then save them with the other personal paper correspondence I get.

It's actually not very much because hardly anyone sends paper mail anymore.

I read them, think fondly of the person who took the time to send them to me, take a moment to feel a little bit bad because I didn't send them one (because I don't do holiday cards,) then recycle bin.

We tend to keep the ones with particularly good photos of kids or old people (which was a grand total of 3 this year, IIRC). The rest get recycled.
