Astro-imaging 101

Shooting the Moon!Most of my astro-images are either long exposures (3 to 5+ minutes of more) or if they are solar system (planets/lunar) - stacked images of 500 - +2000 frames from .avi files. Both require types intensive processing - sometimes taking up to several hours (or more) to complete. None of this equipment is cheap, I have three ( Read more... )

Great shot. I can never get mine to come out that sharp even with a tripod. I guess I need more practice. I shoot at 400mm too and maybe that is too much?

This shot is better than my 'usual' too - most astro images with my telephoto aren't this sharp.
