Japan, Day 4
Today was gorgeous. A little nip in the air, cotton candy clouds in the sky. If I had my wits about me, I would've taken a picture out my window of the sunrise.
Shige, mentioend yesterday, has a wife who makes clothes that she sells. She made Cora a dress that was really nice.

Japan, Day 2
After sleeping for about 7 hours, I woke up and got ready. I was able to call in to AmEx and get a PIN number to use. I was feeling good and went down to the hotel "buffet." I guess I am way too American in my view because this was a pitiful buffet. It had cereal, bacon-ish meat, egg-ish cubes, rice, make-your-own miso soup, OJ, coffee and water. I ( Read more... ) -
Japan, Day 1
So, the fun started even before I left the U.S. The ticketing agent needed to replenish her recommended daily allowance of "common courtesy." Corned Beef
So, I am taking a crack at making my own corned beef. I was inspired by Alton Brown's recent episode. I opted not to get the saltpeter, since the rosy red coloration isn't as big a deal to me. I also shrunk the portion down to accommodate a 3.5 lb. brisket. It's brining as I type and will do so for 10 DAYS ( Read more... ) -
Date Night with a Movie
So, last night g8rgal23 and I went out on our first date PB (post-baby). We went to Firebirds for dinner. She had the Bleu Cheese Filet with garlic mashed Yukon Golds and an Old Fashioned to drink. I had the Prime Rib with the baked potato and a Blue Moon. Our steaks were amazing. Her garlic mashed potatoes were also great. My baked potato was ok ( Read more... )
