family guy made a reference to American beauty....many times actually....one was where Stewie was riding a bike for the first time and Peter had to film it and Louis told him to not miss a second of it. He starts filming Stewie and moves toward a bag floating in the air and gives a monologue very similar the kid's in the movie. The it scrolls up to God and he goes "ITS JUST A BAG FLOATING IN THE AIR, DO YOU NOT REALIZE HOW BAD YOUR CIRCULARTORY SYSTEM IS?!?!?" :D
