Geese In Spring, Part III: Remedy (1/?)

Marching on after being a bit distracted last week. Sorry for the slow!Zevran glanced sidelong at Devin as the two of them moved quietly through the forest. It had taken so little time for the mage to pick up the trick of where and how to set his feet down that Zevran suspected he'd learned this before, despite his claims to the contrary. Even for a Grey Warden, that was fairly impressive, in the hunter's eyes -- what need did a mage really have for stealth? And yet Devin was determined to employ this skill, just as he had been determined to go on patrol with Zevran, regardless of the fact that Alarem thought it was too soon

It seems like when I'm not doing dialogue, I get faaaar too verbose...One of Zevran's strongest skills from his brief career as an assassin was seduction, and in honing that art, he had learned to read people as a matter of course -- both his targets and the people around them who he might have had to bribe, trick, or kill to clear his path. He'd seldom had to analyze someone so carefully since coming to the Dalish, however; they tended to be honest, open people, if not talkative ones. Devin, on the other hand, was almost the complete opposite: like Zevran, he seemed to have picked up the art of talking a great deal without saying anything of import, a sort of defensive mechanism to prevent the listener from picking up any potentially useful, or hurtful, information

Of course, Zevran himself had been rigorously trained -- directly and indirectly -- in guarding his true emotions and presenting false ones, but he'd spent almost his entire life building up such skills. He doubted Devin had such a background, and that could explain his difficulty in coping with these masks; he could make one, and wear it well, but to hide one's face at all times was a challenge, one that took a mental and sometimes physical toll. Zevran certainly no longer felt the need to do so, among the Dalish, and he wondered what exactly had prompted Devin to armor himself in such a way. Had something happened during the Blight? Had the process of fighting the Blight itself brought it on

I'm not dead! Was trying so hard to finish Remedy, here, but it ain't happening today. -sigh- Maybe tomorrow.
Small timeskip here!Devin knew something of Zevran's habits by now, so he wasn't surprised when the elf suggested a wash in the creek after their patrol circuit was completed. This would be the first time they'd engaged in that particular activity together, however, and the mage wasn't entirely sure what to expect. As he stood on the grassy bank, working his way out of his clothes, he told himself firmly not to get his hopes up. It was difficult to keep that in mind, however, when his companion seemed to be removing his armor with intentional slowness, drawing more attention to himself than he might have done with a quick stripdown

"Of course not," Zevran replied with a quiet chuckle. Still behind Devin, he reached around to undo the trousers' laces, then hooked his fingers and thumbs into the waistband of both trousers and smallclothes so that his open hands made full contact with the sides of the mage's hips. Slowly, he slid the fabric down, making the act into a single, sustained caress from Devin's flanks to his calves. A slight nudge at his ankles prompted him to step out of the clothing, and he turned to face Zevran as the elf straightened

Hmm... something seems different about this than my usual smut, I'm not sure exactly why. Apologies if it's godawful. D:
"I suppose that makes you dangerous in virtually any circumstance," the mage noted. Dangerous, indeed. The hunter's peculiar juxtaposition of indolence, intensity, and predatory grace reminded Devin of a cat -- a large cat, like one of the great striped beasts from Rivain. He had seen one in Denerim, brought to the Royal Palace as a gift for the king, and the Warden had found its fluid movements almost hypnotic. Zevran had much the same quality, as far as he was concerned -- particularly without his armor and clothes
