I learned a little bit about nietche. I have to say I see a lot of the nietchien self creation in american lifestyle. He was also a materialist. Now materialism,as you know, gave birth to hedonism. I find I'm a bit of an idealist myself. I believe in a "greater power" and such, and have gone on to accept the eudaimonist belief that the truly moral life is the truly happy one.
Eudaimonism is pretty cool, IMO, being as ethics are a primary concern for me, philosophically. Nietzsche would probably not approve of the average American. Rebellion is not good enough for him. There was a very illuminating essay in "The Simpsons and Philosophy" which analyzed Bart within Nietzsche's philosophy. It cleared some things up for me, even.
Nietzsche was a materialist for pragmatic reasons. He saw the faiths of the world focusing on otherworldly affairs as being anti-life. Stuff like that. I don't relate it very well. lol.
