what a tale my thoughts could tell

Well, it seems I'm not actually as allergic to cats as I feared before coming here, at least not this particular short-haired cat. Good thing, too, because this cat sleeps in bed with me and is in general quite affectionate; you know, basically a failure as a cat. I sneeze a lot, but vacuuming helps ( Read more... )

I wonder if cafe gratitude is the one I heard about where all the dishes are named after positive qualities and you order by saying I feel. So you don't say "I'd like the orgainc blugar with raw beats." Instead you say "I feel enlightened and artistic."

If it's not cafe gratitude it something out there. Maybe you'll run into it.

 Wow. This is the point where even my lighthearted sarcasm fails me. That's really something.

I'll actually go into Café Gratitude tomorrow, and see.

Mission district murals are actually part of the Latin American mural tradition, rather than being a hippie thing.

The Fox Oakland building is, alas, not functioning as a cinema or as anything else. There is a long-standing movement to restore it.

The green-clad SF hotel is owned by Francis Ford Coppola, and used to house his Zoetrope Studios. There's a wine bar on the first floor which serves his wine.

Right right, I know. I just like blaming everything on the hippies.

Wow. Oakland seems so generally rundown. It's a little bit of a surprise, sandwiched between such vibrant areas as it is.

Downtown Oakland is thriving now in comparison to ten years ago, if you can believe it.

it's a shame that you missed the "How Berkeley Can You Be?" Parade. they have a flotilla of art cars (sadly, not litterally floating). as well as a naked contingent. damn hippies.

Apparently Minneapolis does too (the flotilla, not the naked).

I demand specific song titles. I refuse to believe that Gordon Lightfoot transitions into Crystal Method at all, let alone perfectly.

Well, the shift from "If You Could Read My Mind" to "Wild, Sweet and Cool" was smooth onlyfor a certain definition of "smooth".
