Yeah, I've gotten that far with siSwati ... post coming up soon. I think I've got a good grip on the basics (I tested well at the end of training); it's stuff like adjective agreement that's killing me now.
I've already seen enough non-closing side doors to give me bad dreams for the rest of my life!
The song "Down Under" by Men At Work opens with the line, "Travelling in a fried-out [k]ombi, on a hippie trail, head full of zombie." I had the impression that a kombi was a sort of VW microbus deal from the video, but now I know the whole story.
(The next line is the title of the comment. So. Yeah.)
I'm not sure you could write a boring blog post if you tried. Not that that would be a worthwhile goal, but, based on past experience, your posts are always worth reading.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me that your first Swaziland post talks about the libraries.
Marie has found a very similar situation regarding reading in Tanzania; -soma means both "read" and "study" and, she finds, really has not much room for the idea of reading-for-pleasure.
I'll be back in Tanzania some time early this coming year, I anticipate; I should like to come down and see you, if we can coordinate something.
