This song makes me feel joyful.

foxfour (by email): I had a dream last night, in which you sheepishly admitted that you were behind all yeti and sasquatch myths, and showed us your extensive collection of cryptid costumes. Hope you're well!

me: That is now my favorite dream ever, and I didn't even have it myself.

kit: And you don't deny the truth ( Read more... )

I don't read stuff at Livejournal often, but I get handy emails when you post, so I always read those!

I'm still reading here even though I haven't posted here in about a year, maybe more. I read frequently because people/communities I like reading do still post regularly. I have virtuous posting intentions on my wordpress blog but haven't been writing with my former frequency.

As you know, I'm in Berlin with agnoster and we got married this summer. I had an interview today for a hospital food service position. I will shadow someone on Tuesday, and then they'll make a final decision on whether to hire me. I could have a German-speaking job!

So was it hard to learn German?

Not too hard. I spent a lot of class hours on it, but probably fewer than the typical number of out-of-class hours. And I'm blessed with a good ear for language, plus I had a really good private instructor for my first two sessions, so my accent is really good. German has three genders for nouns (masculine, feminine, neuter) and four declensions, but it's not as intimidating as that seems at first glance. A good chunk of cognates with English also helps with the early parts. The verb placement rules are probably the toughest thing to get comfortable with, because the first verb must always be in the second position of the sentence, and any additional verbs go at the end.

Livejournal is the main way I keep track of people! Facebook and the like are just too overwhelming, but the co-stalking approach seems to work better for me (and in particular, me and people I got along with in high school) than actual regular specific interactions ( ... )

Yeah, I'm still reading LiveJournal, although my posting level has dropped to near-coma. I'm spinning my wheels these days, trying to figure out what the next thing for me is to be.
