We took the shinkansen after waking up and getting ready at a pretty leisurely pace - all the way to Kyoto, which only took like 2.5 hours. Hooray for technology! We had another day out in Tokyo today, mainly around Tokyo in the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji for a sushi lunch and Ueno for Ameyoko and Ueno Park. The weather was great again so that was lucky. I took my parents out to Kamakura today. Luckily the weather was perfect for it; it was vaguely sunny and generally fairly cool outside. I did a little research and found there was a return pass that included travel within Kamakura for pretty cheap (though it took longer - more scenic though), which turned out to be perfect. Did a Tokyo day out with my parents today, hitting some of the main tourist areas like Akihabara, Ginza (including my hospital) and passing by Tokyo and Hamamatsucho, where we admired Tokyo Tower in its evening glory. I basically spent the whole day travelling lol. First I checked out of the hostel and lugged my stuff over to the new place in the rain. When I got there, the cleaner (what looked like a guy just barely out of his teens) was still going at it, so I left my stuff there and then headed over to the airport to pick up my parents. Phil came over to Asakusa and we had a look around together today. He wanted to see the Sky Tree, so we kind of meandered in that direction and checked out Kaminarimon and Sensoji on the way as we walked. Last day of my elective today! I had kind of mixed feelings, but mostly I was glad to not have to do 8-5s anymore and be able to ride my bike during the day on weekdays (yes I love my bike).
