Biked to hospital today, but it took a good hour so I ended up missing ward round. It was definitely nice doing some early morning cardio though, and in a productive manner rather than on a piece of gym equipment. Wish I could do it in Melbourne! I’d probably get run over though. The boss doctor was less jetlagged today, so she taught me about treatment of diabetes which was very useful. There are so many options that it’s easy to get confused about what they actually do. A pretty chill day at hospital, since the head doc didn’t have clinic today. I followed the junior doctors most of the time and went to the other attending’s clinic for a short while. After a day of endocrinology, we had a meeting with the gen med doc who took us around the local public health clinics to show us what went on there. She also showed us the Dock clinics and the rounds that the patients make to check up everything. I didn’t have any plans today and it was a lovely day out, so I biked over to Miraikan near Odaiba to join Matt. It was about a 45 minute bike ride one way, but it helped that I’d biked most of the path two days beforehand so I didn’t have to look at the map all the time. Started on endocrinology this week, which turned out to be a very English-capable team. The department head worked in America for 20 years so we talked a lot about various topics during clinic and lunchtime. Fiona and I went to a doujin event at Tokyo Big Sight, where probably up to a thousand artists and many thousand fans of about 4 recently popular anime sold and bought doujinshi, respectively.
