That crabthing is probably your Poekee.

You're in Johto, which is some weird alternate world. I dunno how we got here or anything, but we're kinda stuck here, so let's make the best of it? You get a Poekee when you get here, so that's probably the crabthing. You can use it to battle other Poekees and stuff.

Not really. [He chuckles at that.] They don't exactly follow -- they chase. And you can be surprised how quickly they can move when there's someone to chase.
