As of this morning, I am 100% debt free. It's looking like Tom and I are going to hold off on buying a house for now, so I decided to dip into my savings and just blow the remainder of my student loans away. BAH. Since interest on house payments is less than income tax (house payments are made before taxes), I count that as an investment with active returns.

I could theoretically do that but I wouldn't have much left, which might be a bad idea since as a grad student I use my stipend for living expenses and need my savings for large irregular expenses like car and computer. I throw large chunks of money at my loans when I have extra left over from my stipend though, 'cause yeah. It used to be that my savings interest was bigger than my loan interest, but not any more with the recession, so paying the loan becomes a good idea again.

Works on the same principle as XBox Live points, so I get to keep it no matter what |:3. Anyhow, I wouldn't try to pay it off all at once if I were still in school. If Tom gets a full time job at Case though, I'll be able to get grad classes for free though. :DDD

Yeah, if you ever fly across the country you'd better go nonstop so you don't have a connection in the Midwest.  I don't know if they have a separate No Fly list, but you probably shouldn't take the chance. :)
