You should read 'I Am Alive and You Are Dead' by Emmanuel Carrere, I think his name is. It's a biography of Philip K Dick, who wrote shitty scifi novels and was completely insane. Towards the end of his life he started thinking that the Roman Empire had never ended and we're all living in AD 70. And he was a secret Christian rebel.
