The Top Hat

[dreams_are_mine]

The hat is decorated with a grinning golden crescent moon and roses. While it seems rather jolly, there’s something oddly sinister about it. A foreboding aura.

A golden bell with the number 1 engraved on it hangs from the top crescent of the moon. The hat seems to repel you, you don’t want to touch it. There is something inherently evil about the decorative headpiece. Something very old and malevolent. Focusing on it makes even the single light seem dimmer.

The man nods, gesturing to something beside him, suddenly the thing is spot-lighted, a skeletal figure held in a rectangle frame.

"This is a special machine of my design. ♥ It can house the soul of your lost beloved. The one thing it needs is for you to call his name. ♥ Only your voice can retrieve him back from heaven and bring him to you. ♥"

The man steps back, so Sasuke can look at the skeletal frame. "All you have to do is call for him. ♥"

Sasuke glanced up at the mechanical frame, slowly getting to his feet. He took a step toward it and hesitated. That was all he had to do? Somehow it seemed too easy, considering all the difficulties he experienced throughout his young life. His relationship with the shinigami included.

The thought of being with the grumpy little taichou again made him choke, and he had to hold back the tears as he gave a small nod.

"Toushirou... No one gave you permission to die, Toushirou!"

The skeletal frame shook, a strike like lightning hitting it. A pentagram and the word Toushirou inscribed itself into the skull of the thing. The Thing jerked in the frame, sightless eye sockets fixing on Sasuke as the creature spoke with Hitsugaya's voice.

"How could you do this to me?" The shinigami sounded angry and accusing. "You idiot! You've turned me into an Akuma!"

The jolly fat man clapped happily. "Happy birthday my cute Akuma. ♥ As your first assignment, kill this boy and take his skin. ♥"

The Toushirou-Akuma groaned in anger and pain, lifting arms that ended in blades to strike Sasuke down and dead, yelling at him in anger and sorrow even as he did.

Ebony eyes widened at the accusation. He scrambled to his feet and took a shaky step back. He didn't mean for it to end up like this; all he wanted was his boyfriend back. That's all.

Sasuke shook his head, shaking just slightly. He ducked under the strike and ran a ways to put distance between them.

"No! I-I didn't... T-Toushirou...!" He stumbled on his words, trying to find a suitable explanation for his actions, but they failed him. He had no excuse, except for his strong love for his dead lover.

The skeletal creature dragged itself forward, still shouting accusations in Hitsugaya's voice. In that way of dreams Sasuke would find himself backed against a tombstone, an empty grave opening beneath him as the thing raised its arms again and beat down, killing Sasuke.

The sensation of dying is terrifying, but Sasuke isn't released from the dream there. It's not that merciful. He's frozen like a spirit watching as Hitsugaya the Akuma pulls his bones out of his skin--and somehow, even though he's dead in the dream, Sasuke can still feel what's happening to his body. And then the Akuma wiggles itself into Sasuke's skin, putting him on one agonizing inch at a time.

It's painful, and incredibly disturbing.

The only thing Sasuke could do - or rather, wanted to do - was cry. The pain was too much. He was helpless. There wasn't anything he could do to prevent it, and fuck, he couldn't even die properly.

It was too much. He couldn't breathe right at all.

This couldn't be happening.

He had to wake up.

The Top Hat

Raven opens her eyes and discovers the table in front of her. Had it been only for the chair, the tea cup, the rose and the bells, she could have believed she was in Alice's dream. But there's that evil aura lingering around, surrounded her that definitely tells her otherwise. Evil's radiating from some of the bells and from that top hat over there. Looking at it more carefully, Raven notices there's actually a bell on that hat too. She can't help but reach out to touch it.

Wednesday Night

As Ranma looked at the hat, it made his danger sense go nuts even as the lights seemed to grow darker. It was screaming at him to get away from it as fast as possible or even destroy it somehow. Of course, since this was a dream Ranma usually refused to listen to that little voice of reason in his head.

I ain't afraid of anything. He thought to himself defiantly as he forced himself to touch the evil hat.
