I never seem to update my LJ anymore. I'm never really on AIM either... I've discovered I prefer face to face communication, although text messages and Facebook wall posts are okay, and superior to phone calls or emails. It's quite early for me to be up, but we got to bed before midnight. We're in a motel in Cheyenne. It's not bad, though as of yet Ive managed to avoid talking to the locals. The Wodaabe people who live in the area of Niger hold a "beauty pageant" for their men every year. Werner Herzog did a documentary on them, Wodaabe: Herdsmen of the Sun.

They hold white teeth, white eyes, and tallness to be cardinal indicators of beauty.

I miss Germany. Certain parts, specifically. For example, I would totally love to be back in Berlin, but I don't miss it in the same way I miss certain places in the southwest as well as Kassel.
