Okay, I have no idea what the thing about the Deakin donkey means. And what's the deal with crazy Garret being on board the new PM's campaign? That's insanity!! However, I've heard good things about the new guy, despite some strange drama involving Midnight Oil boy being retarded and saying some pretty damning things. Plus, it sounds like you guys are getting the hell away from Bush, and that's always a plus (hence the reason I'm looking at immigrating back over to Melbourne in a year or so...)

Deakin is an area in which we campaigned most for in Victoria.
Donkey means he was first on the ballot paper meaning he gets the apathy 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 vote.
Howard is head of a global conservative organization, bush sits to his right at the table, so our relations will be more thought out in future with the US one would think.

Um, this might be a dumb question, but is Deakin a direct reference to Deakin Uni in the Burwood area? 'Cause that's where I lived. (If so, hooray!)

I'd imagine both the area and the uni are named after an early white settler.
Think Burwood is just to the west of the area.
